Map 1 shows the estimated last frost dates in the continental U.S. Tobacco seeds should be started indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date indicated for your zone and transplanted outdoors after all danger of frost has past; check local weather forecasts to be sure. In southern U.S. seeds may be started indoors as late as May 1 and transplanted as late as June 1, or anytime sooner, based on your last frost.
